(Courses can be developed to suit target groups)

Moving on and moving in

This is a two-day course looking at all aspects of resettling from legal rights, housing choices to developing a new lifestyle.

People discuss how to cope with various situations and will have an opportunity to speak with key workers in the resettlement process as well as a peer educator.

Settling in and Finding out

This one-day course looks at coping with isolation and the process of change. This leads people on to exploring how to develop a new lifestyle. A peer educator leads the session on change, relating their experiences to key learning outcomes.

Achievement without the Aggression

A one-day course which looks at definitions of different behaviours and offers the chance of practicing how to deal with situations in an assertive manner. A peer educator highlights how their behaviour has changed from aggression to being assertive in difficult situations.

Managing on a limited budget

A one-day course looking at how to manage on a little money. There is an opportunity to meet a Money Advice worker and hear a peer educator's experience of managing on a little money and applying for grant.

The training programmes allow people time out of their daily lifes and routines to have some thinking space!

Through the social process of groupwork, people will begin to think about how the interact with others and, through peer educators, will  hear of their impact on others.

The key for participants is to be open to learning and perhaps, change the way they approach different aspects of their work and life.

Change theory is pivatol to a lot of the work which is explored on the training programmes. Through facilitation of the groupwork it is hoped that people will be aided to move through propsoed changes and not get stuck in the new change!
